| Mateo was born and raised in the small west Texas town of Snyder. He and |
| his wife Amy have been married since June 2005. A lot of his musical |
| upbringing is from a constant influence from his parents, Joe and Geneva, |
| and two brothers, Pablo and Josue. He graduated from Abilene Christian |
| University in 2006 with a degree in Music Education. Since graduating ACU, |
he has been teaching elementary music. "Music has been a big part of my |
| life since I can remember, and I feel that I can best serve God and others |
| bu using this gift." With musical influences like the Beatles, Billy Joel, and |
| Christian artists such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Take 6 |
| and The Acappella Company, Mateo broadened his horizons as a singer and |
| songwriter. "I thank God for the gift of music, for the chance to be in this |
| ministry, for my family, and most of all for the grace that His Son, Jesus |
| Christ has given to everyone, everywhere." |
