A mixed ensemble… Audiences across the country are talking about the 2008 MCA Awards Group of the Year! Durant is a group of six young men and women with a passion for making music and praising the Lord. With energetic stage presence, powerful vocals, and a style all their own, Durant is spreading the gospel of Jesus through their unique blend of rich a cappella tradition with the influence of contemporary styles.
Durant’s core members include siblings Melissa Lancaster and Kim Lancaster- Brantley, Stephanie Harding, Julie Tracy, William Gooch, Danielle Sprawling, and Jonathan Pendergrass – the son of former Acappella singer George Pendergrass. Durant is a family and you just never know who might show up to sing! Frequently former members from other Acappella family groups such as Ryan Smith from X-Changed , Todd Dunaway from AVB and Allen Brantley from Acappella will join with Durant for concerts whenever they can.
The group has its beginnings as X-Changed from Lipscomb University before forming Durant. The name “Durant” comes from Keith Lancaster’s father Durant Larue Lancaster. After he passed away Melissa chose to honor his Christian influence in the lives of everyone in the Acappella family by naming her group for him .
Because of their versatility and desire to share their music with people, they embrace a wide variety of musical genres and styles to appeal to a vastly diverse audience.
Their album, RIDE received the CASA nomination for Best Religious album from the Contemporary A Cappella Society, so be sure to pick up a few dozen copies and share with your friends.
Durant can often be found touring around the country as well as over seas. Visit their facebook page at www.facebook.com/durantmusic to check out their calendar. For booking information, email Delisa@Acappella.com or Melissa@Acappella.com.
